What are UV Rays?

Seeing is believing, so make the best of the eyes you've got by controlling the sun's damage found in ultraviolet (UV) rays. Don't take those eyes for granted because it is easy to damage your seeing source and creating eye source problems that could last you a lifetime. Start by knowing that especially during the summer months long hours spent in the sun without eye protection can lead to cataracts, macular degeneration and skin cancer around the eyes. Ultraviolet radiation (UVA and UVB) is known to be three times higher in the summer months. The choice of proper sunglasses goes a long way towards seeing that eye protection is properly used and even suggesting that family eyesight protection is for all of the family, not just the adults. Using polarized sunglasses reduces glare and certain lens colors can affect contrast and color. Close fitting and wrap around larger sunglasses offer the most protection that block 99 to 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays and screen out 75 to 90 percent of visible light. Expense doesn't have to be an issue as there are many inexpensive selections on the market that will fill this important eye protection need. An ideal location in the local Kissimmee and Orlando area close to Walt Disney World to make your sunglasses selection is Treasure Island Gift Shop at 12399 State Road 535, Orlando, FL 32826. Many people don't know that some contact lenses do not offer UV protection. Exposure to the eyes is the highest in the morning and mid-afternoon. Always keep your sunglasses where you can get to them easily and quickly when you need them. Be prepared for all occasions. Winter days and cloudy days produces UV susceptible damage. If you enjoy winter sports such as skiing, snow reflection especially in higher altitudes also has higher UV radiation.  Not using eye protection or sunglasses is most risky and should be avoided. If the lens tint is black or darker, this has nothing to do with UV protection. Opticians can best advise how to protect your eyes from the rays of the sun and of other safeguards one should practice as a matter of routine and should be consulted for the best advice. Hats and other head protection makes it even better but sunglasses become one of the most important choices for your eyes. Protecting your eyes is highly important and looking directly at the sun is also not suggested. Taking the time to research can go a long way towards keeping your eyes strong and useful for one of the best body functions your body health enjoys overall. Be not only street wise for your health concerns but practice good sense. You will be doing yourself and your family a big favor. Not only in Florida, but all over, eye protection from the sun's ultraviolet rays plays a big part in eye safety.
